It's been a busy start to summer for Pote Law Firm and we are excited to share that we have been nominated by Best for Colorado for a “Measure What Matters” Award! Nominees for this award are chosen based on their score on the B Impact Assessment and we are honored to be considered as one of the top scoring Colorado companies! The awards ceremony will be held virtually this year on August 12th, from 4 – 5:30 p.m.

We know that there are many wonderful businesses in Colorado that are socially and environmentally responsible and committed to considering their triple bottom line and operating in a sustainable manner. It is truly humbling to be considered in the same class as these incredible businesses!

Day to day, we simply try to remain focused on making whatever impact we can, both locally and beyond. And we are proud to be a member of Best for Colorado that has made the 2020 Commitment to Action. If you have not yet made your Commitment to Action, there is still time!

The coronavirus outbreak has made it more challenging for volunteers to gather to provide important services. But, at the same time, the need for many nonprofit organizations has never been greater.

Metro Caring (June Service)

For that reason, I joined a group of incredible volunteers at an event organized by Twiggs & Co. last weekend to help Metro Caring, a wonderful nonprofit dedicated to working with those in “our community to meet people’s immediate need for nutritious food while building a movement to address the root causes of hunger.”

Local business leaders joined me in a photo with CO Sen. Bridges - we're all trying to make Colorado more sustainable and prosperous.

Metro Caring is feeding thousands of Coloradans and has amazing programs, including innovative hydroponic farms, urban gardening programs, and programs that create pathways out of poverty. On our day of service, our group of volunteers redistributed 650lbs of rice, 900lbs of flour, and 400lbs of oats from bulk sacks into family-sized portions for distribution to local families in need.

We Don't Waste (May Service)

I also joined more volunteers at another Twiggs & Co. event at the end of last month to serve We Don’t Waste. We Don’t Waste is an amazing organization that aims at both social and environmental impact.

In their own words, We Don't Waste is committed to supporting both “community and the environment by reclaiming and redistributing quality food to those in need.”

In just one afternoon, we created enough boxes of food to produce 9,386 meals, enough to feed 420 families, while at the same time saving 7,040 lbs of food from the landfill!

If you would like to join a Twiggs & Co. service project, the good news is that there are several opportunities in July to do so (with more opportunities each month)! Please see the Twiggs & Co. eventbrite page for dates and details. Hope to see you out there!

Finally, we know that recent months have been trying times for businesses and nonprofits across the world. Colorado has been no exception. But we are committed to doing what we can to share prosperity while reimaging a sustainable economy for Colorado and beyond.

The next Next Steps to Sustainability event has yet to be rescheduled, but follow us on social media to get more immediate access to firm new and announcements!
